Learning how to paint people is exciting, and sometimes challenging. There are some tips and techniques that can help you as you begin your portrait painting journey.
Start with an accurate drawing of the subject you plan on painting.
Some artist use the grid method, while others free hand the initial drawing. One hint that you need to take to heart is this; If you don’t have an accurate drawing, do not attempt to paint the person. You more than likely will not achieve a likeness if you don’t have a likeness first in pencil.
Painting the closed mouth is fairly easy with practice. Painting the open mouth is more difficult and requires lots of practice. This is because you not only have to paint the lips, but the gums and teeth and sometimes the tongue. The mouth is the facial feature which most expresses the subjects’ mood. The mouth and lips can make or break a portrait. They can make an otherwise realistic portrait look unlike the person or even cartoonish if you do not get it close to exact. To paint closed lips make sure that the pencil drawing is accurate. You will need to step back and view the drawing to make sure that it looks like the subject.
Using the correct color for the lips.
When you are satisfied that the drawing is correct, use a color that matches the persons flesh tone and create the outline of the mouth and the line between the lips. The color that you will use for the lip outline is flesh tone with some burnt umber and alizarin crimson added to it. Be careful not to make the lips look too pink or red, unless there is lip stick on the subject. Lips are really just a little pinker or reder than the flesh color. The outline color should be slightly darker than the actual lip color. Think of this stage as a coloring book. For the outline of the lips you are just painting over your drawn lip lines.
After you have painted the outline color, use the same color but a little lighter and paint in the upper lip. The upper lip will be darker than the bottom lip. Now, paint in the bottom lip with a slightly lighter lip color.
Highlight the lips
Now highlight both lips. The upper lip will have a touch of very light lip color or even white right along the very top center portion. The lower lip will have quite a large area of highlight along the “puffy” center of the lip. The highlight gives the illusion that the puffy portion of lip is rounded and closer to the viewer if you will. When you add the light or whitened highlights to the bottom lip do so in vertical strokes. You should leave a few stroke lines to indicate lines in the skin that make up the lips.
If your subject is a person wearing lip stick you could be done with the lips because lipstick sometimes shows a defined line. But if the subjects’ lips are natural, you should gently blend the lip color into the flesh color of the face so that a hard edge does not exist where there is none.
The last thing to do with a closed mouth is to add shadows directly above the top lip where the crease under the nose is, and directly under the bottom lip and in the chin area. Painting people accurately is an art that requires much practice and patience. You should purchase literature for acrylic painting techniques that demonstrates these methods.
Do you want to go to the theaters more often to see the upcoming movies that you have long been waiting for? Probably see a number of movie sequels that you have waited for years to come out? Paint is created by combining dry pigment and liquid. In oil paints, the liquid used is linseed oil. You purchase oil paint in tubes. The paint is thick. So when you squeeze it out onto your palette, you mix it with your palette knife and use a stiff brush to apply it to your canvas. The thickness and composition of the paint means that it is very slow drying. Paintings done in oil typically take around 72 hours to dry.
The upside of the delayed drying time is that you can make adjustments to refine your painting. This can be done for up to twelve hours after you paint the canvas. You can make gradual shifts from one color to another. If you are using oil paints, you can also completely remove things from your canvas with your palette knife or a wet rag. Once the paint has dried completely, you can then put new colors on top of the original layer of paints. However, be aware that in order to avoid cracking, each subsequent layer must be thicker than the previous
The drawback of using oil paints is that when you paint one color next to another on your canvas, they taint one another easily
To begin an oil painting, you need to sketch your subject onto the canvas. You can use thinned paint or a piece of charcoal to accomplish this. However, if you use charcoal then it must be sprayed with fixative in order to isolate it from the colors. That is an advantage to using paint to sketch the subject is that you do not need fixative. Sometimes people transfer drawings onto the canvas. A drawing on thin tracing paper is taped onto the canvas. Carbon paper is then used to transfer the drawing. Trace over the drawing with the carbon paper positioned underneath it. A ballpoint pen will enable you to see where you have already traced. Once you are finished, fixative is necessary to isolate it from the paint.
Brushes are used to apply the paint to the canvas. The brush is the most vital tool an artist has. One of the markers of a talented artist is difficulty painting with poor quality brushes. You want a brush that maintains its shape even when loaded down with paint. At the conclusion of each stroke, the brush will return to its original shape. Brushes come in either sable or bristle, which is from pigs. Bristle brushes are appropriate for large areas on the canvas. Sable brushes are best for smaller areas and detail work. Brushes for oil paints come in flats, filberts, brights, or rounds. Flats are the most versatile brushes, used for a variety of strokes and blending. Filberts make a stronger edge. Brights allow your brush strokes to show. Rounds are for detail work.
Typically, you will paint with oils in layers. The first layer is the underpinning of the painting. Typically, these are just the values blocked out in paint-the lights, mediums, and darks of the painting. The second layer sketches out the drawing or vision of the painter. Subsequent layers add in details of the painting.
Start with a basic set of colors, which will allow you to blend to create whatever shade you would like. Essentially, you want to buy a white, a black, and then warm and cool shade of each color. Buy cheaper artist’s colors rather than student colors, as they are higher quality. Titanium white is a good choice for a white because it dries fast. If you buy a warm and cool version of each primary color, you will have an easier time mixing. Many experts also suggest that you buy a warm and cool green as well. You will quickly learn how to mix colors.
The best way to develop skill with oil painting is to practice. There are many oil painting exercises as well. Ultimately, you want to master basic forms, values within colors, distance, and texture. Over time, your skill will grow and you will learn more nuanced painting techniques. Above all, you must have patience with yourself.
Genghis Khan, although the product of an illiterate and barbarous people plagued by internecine wars, transformed the Mongol warriors into a brilliant military machine that frequently defeated the civilizations of China, Islam, and Eastern Europe. Legend claims that Genghis Khan was born with a clot of blood clutched in his hand, an omen of greatness. Regardless of omens, the cruel, creative, and cunning mind of Genghis Khan clearly was responsible for his truly legendary success.
For example, in 1207 when his Mongol army had been stymied by the fortified city of Volohai, he proposed to the city leaders that he would end his siege if they paid him a bizarre tribute of 1,000 cats and 10,000 swallows. The strange demand was met by the city and then Genghis Khan told his Mongols to tie tufts of wool to the tails of the animals and set them on fire. Terrified by the burning bits of wool, the cats and swallows were released. They fled back to their lairs and nests within the city and spread fire throughout the walls. The Mongols then successfully stormed the walls of Volohai while its defenders were occupied with the many fires. Another tactic employed by the Mongols during one of their many campaigns against the Chinese was to round up women, children, and elderly from the countryside and drive them before their army as a human shield so that the defenders of walls would not shoot.
Despite his cleverness, Genghis Khan realized that he could not depend on trickery forever. He needed to address the weaknesses within the Mongol army. The equipment and techniques of sieging needed to be added to the swift and bloodthirsty Mongol hordes.
Genghis Khan was always willing to learn from the civilizations that he conquered, including the arts of war. He commanded each tribe under him to assemble siege equipment and learn how to use it and transport it. In addition to these technical advances, he formed an elite corps of professional commanders who were to devote themselves to training for warfare. This innovation in his command structure surmounted the long standing tradition of Mongol warriors who, despite their vicious skills, were amateurs. They would follow orders as long as victory was forthcoming, but they grew restless in the face of setbacks or failure. Wanting only easy plunder, the traditional Mongol warrior had not applied himself much to long term strategies. The new command corps would provide the structure and discipline needed to transform the Mongol warriors into a multi-skilled and adaptive force.
Genghis Khan also understood that a military is supported by its society, and he allowed Mongol civil society to advance with the aid of codified laws that he bade his advisor and scribe Tatatungo to write. The newly written Mongol code called for all men to work and to always be ready for battle, stated that even a leader was subject to law, insisted that all religions should be tolerated and even respected, and that the rights and responsibilities of women over the management of family assets should be greatly expanded. This inclusion of women in the management of society as opposed to total oppression allowed Mongol society to function while the men were away at war. Genghis Khan was not one to allow strict patriarchy to weaken his army. His codification and enforcement of written laws also promoted discussion and judging within Mongol society to settle disputes instead of the petty wars that had permanently raged for countless generations. With Mongol society now enjoying a greater level of peace, it could better maintain the engines of conquest.
With the natural talents of the Mongol warriors now enhanced by strategic thinking, professional leadership, and siegecraft technology, the many kingdoms of Asia would soon crumble beneath the hooves of the nomadic masses turned conquerors. Even with such might at his disposal, Genghis Khan did not deal blows thoughtlessly. He is well known for his astute use of terror. He cultivated such a frightful reputation that cities and kingdoms would surrender to him instead of suffer the assault of his bloodthirsty hordes. Genghis Khan required total and immediate submission in order to bestow his mercy. Any resistance invited brutal horrors. Although there is no condoning the slaughter and pillaging of his armies, his conscious use of terror was a well thought out practice that often brought him an efficient victory without having to spend the lives of his soldiers and waste resources and time.
The Mongols under Genghis Khan were such a colossal force that resistance was almost always futile. The fierce and highly skilled Mongol warriors seemed to have almost no match on the open battlefield. Mongol warriors were superb horse riders and able to shoot arrows while mounted. The speed and accuracy of this highly mobile …

Whether you are going to the junior prom or senior prom in 2010, the start of a new year usually begins the mad dash to begin planning for this favorite high school event. As you are in the midst of your planning and shopping, you’re likely to ask yourself this one question: What’s the difference between a junior prom dress and senior prom dress? Let’s talk about that now!
Junior prom dresses: Although they are both fun and important events in your high school career, generally speaking – the junior prom is a less formal event. Gowns for this dance are typically shorter, more trendy and a lot cheaper than you would spend on your senior prom gown. These dresses are especially designed for girls between the ages of fourteen to seventeen years old, so they also tend to be more modest and age appropriate. In many ways, this gown is going to be more along the lines of a cocktail dress than a formal event dress. Most retailers and dress designers have special sections just for junior prom dresses, and as you browse them – you will notice that there is an obvious difference between the styles, cuts, shapes and lengths of them. Because the junior prom is just one year away from the senior prom, try not to overspend. The dress you buy for the junior dance can also be worn to your homecoming dance during your senior year.
Senior prom dresses: The senior prom is the final major dance of your high school career, and apart from your high school graduation, it will be the most memorable event as well. People tend to spend more money on the twelfth grade prom than any other event during the four years of high school. Senior prom gowns are typically more formal than their junior prom counterparts. Most teen girls will opt for longer gowns that are fitted, sophisticated and elegant. While a junior dance dress can usually be worn to other semi-formal events, you will likely only wear your senior dance dress one time. This dance is like the equivalent to a Hollywood red carpet event, so finding the most stylish and glamorous gown is extremely important.
The Law of Attraction is the Law of the Universe that states that what you think about and focus on is what you will physically draw into your life to experience.
But what if you wanted to create more money for yourself by winning at gambling. Will the Law work for you then? The answer is Absolutely! — as long as you are vibrating in the right place mentally while you are doing it.
You see, I know this for a fact because I have been both studying the Law of Attraction for 20 years as well as enjoyed gambling for approximately the same amount of time; and I can tell you without a doubt that as my studying and learning has progressed, so has my winnings and jackpots!
While this article will mostly be focused on winning at Video Poker games in casinos (because it is personally my favorite to play and I know the most about it) I am sure you will find a lot of tips here that can help you win at other games as well.
Here are a few simple tips to help you get into vibrational alignment with winning as well.
1. Don’t gamble with money you cannot afford to lose.
Now, this may sound like typical “moral” advice that anyone would tell you, but from a Law of Attraction standpoint it is especially important. The fact of the matter is, if you are playing with rent or bill money then you are playing with scared or guilt money! Playing with scared money will put you in a negative vibrational place right from the start and will make it much more difficult to draw more money to you.
If money is a little tight right now – start a JACKPOT JAR in your home. (Be sure to write Jackpot Jar on it by the way. This way every time you look at it you are giving yourself a positive affirmation. Eventually you will come to believe that that is exactly what it is. ) Put some money in it every week. It doesn’t matter if it is $2, $5 or $10. Just put a little aside until you have accumulated the amount you would like to bring to the casino with you. Maybe you can cash in the penny or change jar you have sitting in the corner of your bedroom that is doing nothing.
The point is to go on your trip with “guilt-free” or “fear free” money. You will automatically be in a better vibrational place knowing that it really doesn’t matter if you win or lose it, as long as you have fun!
2. Visualize Winning Before You Go
My father was one of the luckiest Video Poker players I have ever met. When he hit, it was usually for some pretty big amounts. I remember a $13,000 jackpot, a few $8,000 jackpots and too many $4,000 and $1,000 jackpots to count.
Now the funny thing is my father didn’t technically believe in the Law of Attraction per se, but a favorite hobby of his was to daydream (or visualize) about his next trip to Atlantic City and how he was going to win. He would say things like “First I am going to go to the quarter machine and hit $1,000 there, then I am going to take that money and go play the dollar machine and hit $4,000 there and then I am going to sit for an hour or two winning smaller amounts until I hit the big one.” (Is it any wonder I am a fan of Video Poker when I see someone win at it so easily?)
Now again, he didn’t do these visualizations as a “technique” to help him win, he just did it because it was fun for him think about. Regardless of the reason why he was doing it – I can tell you it absolutely worked!
It got to the point where if he won less than 3 jackpots in a weekend, it was considered a “slow” weekend.
Eventually he got so good at winning – the thought of losing didn’t even enter his mind. And Law of Attraction being what it is (what you think and believe is what you get) he hardly ever did lose.
So start visualizing winning before you even go. Start small if a “huge jackpot” seems too unbelievable to you. Say O.K. first, I’ll win $100 here, then win $300 there. Imagine the perfect hands that will be dealt to you. Feel the excitement you would feel as if you had really won. Envision yourself counting a huge wad of bills on your trip home and how good it feels. Do this as often as possible before your trip so you are already on a …
What are the primary differences between Japanese Manga (Comics) and American Comics?
There is a big difference in art styles between Manga, which is more stylized (exaggerated) and American comics, which tend to be more “realistic”. There are also quite a few serious differences between the two types of comics. Some of the differences, just to mention a few of them are the cost, creation, diverse audience and genres, presentation and even size.
The creation of Manga as well as its presentation is quite different than American Comics. Manga is printed in black-and-white format while American comics are the majority of the time in full color. Also, when you look at a graphic novel or Manga you will notice a difference in the size. Manga is frequently smaller than traditional American comic books, usually digest-size and roughly half to one-third the size of American comics. But where the American comics are generally thin like a small magazine, running about 32 pages, Manga comic books are thick and can be hundreds of pages in length!
In page count, Manga is quite similar to graphic novels, which are often just collections of the ongoing American comics. But unlike American graphic novels, which are usually just a collection of monthly comics in a single unified story or story arc, Manga books are often apart of an even bigger story and a complete Manga storyline can run thousands of pages.
Another difference between traditional American comics is that mainstream American comics are often created in a sort of assembly-line fashion. They have a writer (story), a penciler (initial sketch), inker (uses a pen to ink over the sketch), letterer (adds dialog) and a colorist (colors the inked sketch). Most Manga books are done by a single creator, who combines all those chores (except coloring).
Also Manga story lines usually move at a much quicker pace. Due to the high page count, one reads a Manga book at an accelerated pace. Manga books almost always have fewer panels and less dialogue (rambling) per page than American comic books. The price for Manga is also more than the average comic book and a bit more than a standard paperback novel, the small size of Manga and black-and-white printing rather than full color keeps the cost down. The lack color is made up when you consider the story development that it’ll have with the amount of pages it has.
In Japan, Manga is not viewed as just for kids unlike the American stereotype. There pretty much is a Manga for everyone. With that being stated there are three main genres in Japanese Manga: Shonen Manga (boy’s comics), Shojo Manga (girl’s comics) and Hentai (adult comics).
Shonen Manga is pretty much comics that are primarily action and/or adventure geared. If you’d like to view some examples of that genre, I’d recommend “Bleach” and/or “Full Metal Alchemist”. Shojo Manga is for the opposite sex; they are often about relationships and/or love interests. Please note that even though a particular genre is geared towards a certain audience it’s not limited to just that audience (unless otherwise stated). Finally Hentai Manga, I won’t delve much into this since it is primarily for adults and NOT suitable for children (just to be safe in case a child is reading this). Anyways, Hentai Manga is sometimes sexually explicit and/or adult-themed. In other words, do not purchase this for your child.
Next time someone asks you what the difference is between Manga and [American] comics, you can surprise them with your knowledge.
‘Post-Impressionism’ was the successor of the ‘Impressionist’ style of painting. Famous English art critic Roger Fry organized his first exhibition in London and coined the term ‘Post-Impressionism’ to classify the artwork of the late 19th Century painters. These artists were Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, and Paul Gauguin, regarded as the pioneers and frontrunner ‘Post Impressionists.’ Georges Seurat and Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec were among other painters inspired by ‘Impressionism.’ They however, developed their own styles to enhance and emote through their art thereby, joining the club of ‘Post Impressionists.’
‘Impressionism,’ as an art movement, started in France in the late 19th Century. This style of painting concentrated on capturing the immediate mood or the visual impression of a scene with live subjects, through the effects of color and light. The ‘Post-Impressionist’ painters defied the principle of the objective recording of nature. They concentrated on bringing about more structure, form, and expression to their work in their own distinctive styles. ‘Post-Impressionists,’ like ‘Impressionists,’ used swirling brush strokes, direct colors, and real life subjects, only to differ in capturing greater emotional depth. They therefore, added new dimensions to their significantly more expressive art.
‘Post-Impressionists’ often exhibited their art together in collaboration, but preferred to work alone. Paul Cézanne abandoned the initial ‘Impressionism’ movement, as he wanted, in his words, “to make of Impressionism something solid and durable like the art in the museum.” He developed an innovative style of painting that involved breaking down objects into their fundamental shapes through the gradations of pure color. His abstract style inspired the great artist Pablo Picasso to come up with the concept of ‘Cubism.’
Paul Gauguin lived in Tahiti, and took inspiration from the rural communities & traditional living to present aesthetic art. Gauguin adapted a unique form of art created by bringing the flat exotic and sensuous color harmonies, along with heavy outline appearance of stained glass windows on the canvas. He also dealt with manuscript illuminations, where text in a manuscript is adorned by designs or by the use of gold or silver. This gave, almost, a poetic effect to his paintings.
Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh was known as a model ‘Expressionist’ painter, whose tryst with blotchy brushwork and vivid colors, elaborately reflecting emotions, earned him worldwide acclaim. Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec was another famous ‘Post-Impressionist,’ who was known for his sinuous outlining with the color schemes contrasting with ‘Impressionism.’ Georges Seurat was an expert of color theories and linear structures. He applied a technique called ‘Pointillism,’ in which he used the tiny dots of contrasting color to create an elusive and illuminating impression in his paintings.
‘Post-Impressionists’ began as ‘Impressionists,’ but drifted away from its naturalist approach. They ventured into uncharted domains, adding emotions and symbolic meaning to their art. With their peerless, independent styles and dedication to add new dimensions to artistic expressions, ‘Post-Impressionists’ dramatically influenced Modern Art of the 20th Century. Their evolved styles inspired various new concepts, like Cubism, Pointillism, Neo Impressionism, and Fauvism.
This is a great street magic trick that never fails to entertain and amaze anybody you show this to. It’s easy to do, and requires only a little bit of set up. You’ll soon be approaching strangers on the street and quickly become the talk of the town with this amazing illusion.
This is the way it will appear to your audience. You walk up, and say you are practicing some street magic, and you’d like their attention for a couple minutes. Most everybody will readily agree to seeing some street magic, so you’ll have no problems getting them to say yes. You start to launch into a trick, maybe pulling out a deck of cards, but then you begin to sneeze. You act like your have a sore neck all of a sudden, and you start to sneeze uncontrollably. Then your head suddenly drops down to the center of your chest. You say something like “Oh, my,” and then pull your head back to your shoulders. You politely excuse yourself, and walk away. Needless to say, your audience will be stunned beyond belief.
Here’s the trick. You’ll need to get two shirts of identical fabric and color to set this up. One shirt under, and one shirt over. On the shirt that is over, you’ll need to cut a “V” shape about halfway down to the chest. You’ll also need to wear a dark jacket over both shirts. Next, take a sturdy coat hanger, and place it between shirts, so on the coat hanger is the cut shirt, and your jacket, but not the uncut shirt that is underneath.
As you start sneezing, and complaining about your painful neck, reach back like you are rubbing your neck. When you sneeze really hard, grab the coat hanger, and pull up, and at the same time lower your head. This will make them think your head has fallen off your shoulders and is somehow resting in the middle of your chest. With your hand on your forehead, gently push your head back up to your shoulders.
The key to this trick is to do this quickly, both lifting the jacket and the cut shirt up, as well as returning everything back to normal. Especially if you set this up by saying you are going to do some kind of mind reading trick, nobody will be paying any attention to your shirt and jacket. Because this happens so fast, they will actually remember it as though your head really fell down to your chest.
People won’t be paying much attention to your shirt, so you can easily pull this off. Many studies on social sciences bare this out. All you need to do to perform this trick effectively is to set it up as some kind of mind reading trick, do a good job of acting that your neck is hurt, and quickly apologize, and excuse yourself once you’ve “returned” your head. They will be taken completely off guard, and you’ll generate a ton of laughter and amazement with this trick. Have fun.
Stained glass is so beautiful when displayed in a window where the sunlight shines through the glass. The effect of the sunlight reflecting light through the various glass textures and colors adds a dramatic elegance to the room.
To install art glass into a window opening you have two options. Purchase or make a glass piece that is the exact size of the window opening. Place the art glass piece over the existing window and secure with molding or brackets. Be sure to thoroughly clean the window prior to installation. To display smaller art glass pieces, hang it above the window using decorative chain or fishing line.
If you do not have a window where you would like to display your art glass piece, you can create a faux window. With a press of a button, your art glass will light up.
To turn your art glass into a faux window, you will need to make a shadow box. To make a shadow box you will need wood for the outer frame, sides and back of shadow box. You will also need rope lights or strip lights that will fit into the interior measurements of your shadow box.
First measure the length and width of the stained glass piece. Take these measurements from the outer perimeters of the glass. If you wish to have a mitered frame, add the width of the framing stock to your measurements.
Example: Measurements of perimeter of stained glass piece is 21″ x 24″.
Width of wood for frame is 2″.
Using a miter saw or miter box, cut 45 degree angles on each end.
You will need 2 pieces that are 25″ and 2 pieces that are 28″ from tip to tip.
Use wood glue and trim head screws to assemble your frame. Now you are ready to make the box part of the shadow box.
Cut 2 pieces of 1-1/2″ wide wood that are equal to the outer length of the art glass piece plus 1/4″ and two pieces that are equal to the outer width of the art glass piece plus 1/4″ and 2 times the thickness of the wood.
Using wood glue and brad nails assemble box sides and attach to frame. This leaves the back of the faux window open so that you can insert your glass. Place stained glass into shadow box and attach with glass brackets and/or silicone. Then add strip lights or rope lights around the interior of the box just behind the stained glass insert.
To make the back of the shadow box, cut a piece of plywood or masonite to fit over the assembled box sides and frame. Be sure to make a hole for the electrical cord. Using wood glue and brad nails, attach back to box sides.
An alternative to making a stained glass lighted shadow box would be to hang art glass in front of wall flooded from above by flood bulbs which are mounted behind a soffit. This method requires the glass artwork to be hung away from the wall about 4 – 5″. You can accomplish this by hanging art glass from the soffit which will allow the lighting to be behind the art glass just like sun shine coming through a window.
This is one more article on Wolf Messing, the famous psychic.
Actually Messing’s fame spread through- out Russia. Stalin wanted to test his psychic abilities. So he called him and ordered him to carry out a psychic bank robbery and get one lakh rubles from the Moscow Gosbank. He was unknown to the bank authorities.
So Messing took up the challenge and walked to the bank. He simply handed over a blank piece of paper torn from a school notebook. He handed over the piece of pater to the bank cashier and opened an attache case and put it on the counter.
The cashier carefully checked the paper and opened the safe and handed over one lakh rubles to Messing. The two officials who were with Messing as per Stalin’s order witnessed the scene.
Messing returned the money to the cashier. The cashier checked the paper which was a blank. He fell to the floor with a heart attack.
One more test was carried out by Stalin. He wanted Messing to come to his guarded room at Kremlin.
Messing went to Kremlin and told the securities, ” I am Beria, May I go in?”
They checked him and allowed him to go to Stalin’s room. Beria was the close associate to Stalin at that time.
Stalin opened the door hearing the knock sounds. There was Messing.
Stalin was a keen psychic researcher. He wanted a psychic research department to be opened in Moscow.
Wolf Messing met the famous scientist Einstein and told him that he could think anything which he would be pleased to do.
Einstein invited him in Vienna in 1915. He was sixteen only. Sigmund Freud was acted as inductor.
Freud gave a mental command to him. “Go to the bath room. Take the tweezers. Return to Einstein and take three hairs from his moustache.
Messing carried out the command reluctantly.
It was 1927. Very interesting incident took place in India at Mahatma Gandhi’s place. Gandhi’s mental command to him was: “Take a flute from the table and hand it over to anyone in the room. Accordingly to the surprise of all Messing took the flute and handed it over to a person. That person started playing it. Suddenly a basket kept in the room was trembled and started to move. A snake emerged from the basket and swayed in rhythm to the music.
Throughout his life Messing’s psychic abilities were tested again and again.
Since he predicted the fall of Hitler, he was chased by Gestapo. He escaped to Russia. He was an entertainer showing his mental abilities.
His true story has been written by Tatiana Lungin in the book titled “Wolf Messing: The True Story of Russia’s Greatest Psychic”.
We may come across many psychic personalities. But needless to say, that Wolf Messing will be in the top of the list.

What you need to know about how to avoid the most common type of car scratch (swirl and spider). This article covers what to avoid and the single easiest way protect your car paint from the most common type of scratches that degrade the overall look of your paint finish. If you decide to remove micro swirl scratches yourself look for a car scratch remover designed to give professional results at home with a guarantee and good product support.
You may have noticed numerous ultra fine scratches known as a swirl or spider that is most noticeable on the hood, trunk and roof of cars. They usually stand out on a sunny day when you look straight down at them. If you really want a shock pull your car in a garage under direct overhead fluorescent lighting and brace yourself for car paint scratches galore. The majority of swirls or spider scratches can be traced to a poorly maintained car finish that is not regularly waxed or sealed. The 7 innocent things you may be subjecting your car to that can cause a micro swirl car scratch.
– Automatic drive through car washes are hard on paint.
– Automatic car wash workers with poor hand drying technique and substandard towels.
– Abrasive or dirty at home or self serve “brush wands” the type that connects to a hose.
– Using dish washing soap when washing your car at home.
– Wiping or rubbing dust or grit off a dry paint with a dry towel, rag or paper towel.
– Not using a chamois or premium micro fiber towel to dry a car paint finish after washing.
– Improper at home hand car washing technique – a subject all by itself.
NOTE: Anything from under the kitchen sink should never be used on your car because household cleaning products are designed to remove grease etc and are not properly pH balanced for automobile paint therefore over time they have dire effects on not only the paint but rubber and plastic as well. A high quality car washing shampoo is designed to gently lift dirt from car paint and leave behind luster enhancers that help protect the paint.
Pro trick to reduce the incidence of micro swirls after hand washing a car. Dry hoods and trunks front to back in one motion, not circles. Only use a chamois or micro fiber towels to dry car paint. Wipe the side of your car, side to side in a horizontal motion, not circles. The reason for this is any micro scratches you may induce will not reflect light as much as circular micro scratches will. Additionally, a professional quality car scratch remover designed for home use can remove fine micro spider scratches with great results.
The single most important thing you can do to protect your car from micro spider swirls is to use a quality sealant or wax at a minimum of twice a year . Preferably a quality car sealant which bonds to the paint which will last longer and stands up to the environment much better than ordinary car wax. Properly sealed paint will resist all sorts of scratches because the paint is protected with a slippery barrier.
A neglected paint finish allows dust, grit and substandard washing accessories to dig into the paint thus causing micro swirl automobile scratches. To prove my point about a properly protected car finish and scratches I took a plastic fork and ran it hard across the hood of my black BMW with barely any visible damage. Next I did the same to my friend’s car hood … he NEVER waxes or uses a sealant on his car… and it left a HUGE scratch… which I of course then had to remove since he went through the roof.
The point is, using a high quality auto paint sealant makes your car so slippery that you can’t even make a plastic fork bite in to cause car paint scratches. Simply using a high quality sealant on your car finish at least twice a year goes a long way to protecting your vehicle paint from typical micro swirl car scratches.
After graduating from college, many young people take the chance to explore the world. Imagine if you could explore the world on a travel grant while adding a prestigious line to your resume!
International exchange and travel programs like the Fulbright Program, Watson Fellowships, and Rhodes Scholarships make this possible for a small number of outstanding college graduates. A variety of smaller programs also provide grant money for travel, education, and service projects abroad.
Fulbright Program – Every year, more than 1,400 B.A. graduates, students, young professionals, and artists receive a Fulbright grant to study, teach, or conduct research abroad in more than 140 countries. The Fulbright Program offers grants for international educational exchange for students to undertake graduate study, traditionally in European countries. Options now extend to the rest of the world.
Fulbright grants for recent college graduates and graduate students are administered by the Institute of International Education. Fulbright-Hays grants, including grants for doctoral and post-doctoral research, are sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. The Fulbright Program offers regular grants; supplemental travel grants to Germany, Hungary, and Italy; business grants; ESL student teaching assistantships abroad; and special programs. Thomas J. Watson Fellowship – The Thomas J. Watson Fellowship provides a $25,000 stipend ($35,000 for Fellows traveling with a spouse) for graduating seniors to pursue a year of independent study outside the U.S. Projects are not academically orientated, as the program is intended to encourage exploration rather than formal research. Watson fellows are prohibited from reentering the U.S. and their home countries, taking paid work, or becoming involved in organized volunteer projects for any length of time during their Watson year.
Only graduates of 50 highly selective small colleges are eligible. An applicant must be nominated by his or her college during the senior year before applying. 50 applicants are chosen each year. More information: Watsonfellowship.org
Jeanette K. Watson Fellowship – The Jeanette K. Watson Fellowship is awarded to 15 undergraduates a year from six divisions of the City University of New York and four independent colleges. The program allows students to intern at not-for-profit organizations, governmental agencies, and for-profit organization in New York during their first two summers. In their third summer, Watson Fellows usually intern in overseas offices of international nonprofits or community-based organizations in countries such as South Africa and India.
Applicants must be a second semester freshman or sophomore with at least four semesters remaining, and like the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship, applicants must be nominated by the college. More information: JKwatson.org
Rhodes Scholarship – The Rhodes Scholarship is a very prestigious award for study at the University of Oxford, England. Rhodes Scholars may study a taught Master’s program, a research degree, or a second undergraduate degree (as a senior) – any postgraduate program offered except the MBA. The scholarship is initially awarded for two years, but may be extended to three.
Applicants are judged by academic achievement, involvement and success in sports, leadership qualities, and honesty of character and unselfish service. Approximately 90 Rhodes Scholars are selected each year from around the world, 32 from the U.S.
Applicants are nominated by selection committees. All costs of Oxford tuition and living expenses are paid for successful applicants, with additional opportunities for travel and research grants. Many recent Rhodes Scholars have chosen to pursue a graduate degree rather than a second undergraduate degree. More information: Rhodesscholar.org
Applying for College Grants – The grant application project is typically involved, as these grants are competitive and prestigious. In addition to application forms, you will need to submit a detailed proposal and acquire strong letters of recommendation. For the two Watson Fellowships, you must attend a participating university and be nominated by the university; others, like the Fulbright, are open to a wider range of applicants. Your academic advisor can tell you more about applying for college grants and student fellowships.
We all know that we live in a world of duality, whether we are all aware or conscious of that, however, is another story. Knowing and being aware are two different states of consciousness. Did you know that the Law of Polarity is one of seven of the most important Hermetic Cosmic and Universal Laws? This Law of Polarity states simply, that everything is dual in nature and everything has its pair of opposites. It states that opposites are the extremes of the one and the same thing. The difference is in the degree of their intensity. According to this law everything is and is not, at the same time. Every truth is half false because there are two sides to everything. There is heat and there is cold, and although they are opposites, they are really the same of the one thing, the difference is in the degree of temperature, the difference is in the rate of the vibration of the form. This is again in accordance with another law, namely the Law of Vibration as everything vibrates in nature.
The same goes for all the opposites, hard and soft, high and low, love and hate, good and evil. Change the rate of the vibration and you change the state of the form. One very good example is the energy of love and hate. Most of us have experienced personally how quickly feelings can change from hate to love and from love to hate. Why is that and how does that happen and where is that line between the two that divides, meaning at which exact moment does love stop and hate takes over or the other way round? This is impossible to pin down. According to the Hermetic teachings, rather than you being swayed by your moods and feelings here and there, being thrown from one extreme swing of the pendulum to the other extreme side, you can change this by becoming the Master of circumstances through the use of your Will to change the state of your Mind. When you change the state of your Mind you can change your environment and your role therein. This is known as Mental Alchemy.
Hermes Trismegistos is referred to as the ‘Scribe of the Gods’ and all the fundamental and basic teachings embedded in the esoteric teachings of every race may be traced back to Hermes. He is the ancient of the ancients. The most famous quote that is known comes from him ‘As above so Below, or as Below so Above.’ To escape persecution his teachings were embedded in mystery and constituted the basic principles of ‘The Art of Hermetic Alchemy,’which contrary to the general belief, dealt in the Mastery of Mental Forces, misunderstood by many who believed it to mean the transmutation of material forces for example metal into gold, but the teachings were well understood by all students of true Hermeticism. True Hermetic Transmutation is a Mental Art. This was what was taught in Hermetic Mystery Schools several thousands years ago and it still holds today because it deals with a Universal Law that is infinite. The secret Hermetic teachings were all about mental work with one goal only in mind, to advance the human being to a higher divine being through self transformation.
Good and Evil are but the poles of the same thing, and the follower of the Hermetic teachings understands the art of transmuting evil into good by means of applying the principle of Polarity. The Art of Polarization becomes a phase of Mental Alchemy known and practiced by the ancient and modern Hermetic Masters. Understanding this principle will enable you to change your own Polarity, as well as that of others. This is the principle of Mentalism which is ‘The All is Mind, the Universe is Mental.’ To change your mood or mental state, change your mind, by changing your vibration. This is the way it’s done. To kill out a negative quality concentrate on the positive pole of the same quality and the vibrations will gradually change from the negative to the positive until finally you will become polarized on the positive pole instead of the negative. To change the quality of fear, to rid yourself of any fear, concentrate mentally on the opposite quality of courage. Breathe courage, think it, live it, constantly in your daily life and in time you will polarize yourself at the other end of the pole, that of courage. It needs time and study to master the art but it is possible if you are willing to exercise your will power and excel your mental focus.
By changing your polarity you may master your moods, change your mental states, change your state of emotions, build up your character and gradually master your environment. Much of the …
